Parks

Those of us who live in Talent love being outside where we can breathe the fresh air and enjoy our gorgeous mountain views. You'll see families out walking together, and people of all ages riding their bikes. Our parks reflect the values of our active community, while providing opportunities for people to meet and mingle.

Our 12-acre community park, Chuck Roberts, is the jewel of the parks system and Talent's recreation hub. But many smaller parks play vital roles too. Our dog park helps keep our canine family members happy and healthy. Our skate park attracts teens from all over town. We have neighborhood parks with playgrounds. One of our parks, Lynn Newbry, is located along Bear Creek, a major tributary of the Rogue River. It's a place for bird watching and salmon viewing. Two other parks, located along smaller Wagner Creek, serve as havens for quiet contemplation of nature.

As Parks Commissioners we take our duty of recommending park improvements and changes in park policy to the City Council very seriously. We set goals each year, and meet once a month to work towards meeting those goals. We are all park users ourselves, who believe that our clean, safe and diverse parks are symbols of our great community.
