Meet Tom, Talent’s Interim City Manager!

Tom Humphrey will be joining the Talent team in September as Interim City Manager while City Council selects a new, permanent City Manager.

Tom has over 30 years of professional planning and administrative experience in city and regional government. After becoming the City of Central Point’s Community Development Director in January 1998, Tom initiated a Downtown Revitalization program and assisted in the formation of an urban renewal agency. He managed the City’s Comprehensive Plan review and strategic plan implementation processes, facilitated mixed-use development, assisted the Central Point School District with facilities planning, and participated in local and area-wide transportation funding efforts. Tome promotes the creation of “Destination Businesses” in Southern Oregon and has personally introduced over 30 business owners and managers to Jon Schallert’s Destination Business BootCamp®. Since his retirement in 2021, Tom has contracted with the City of Talent to provide limited planning consulting services.

Tom is also a Navy veteran who retired in 2010 after 36 years of service in various active and reserve duty assignments. He is married to Sarah with whom he shares seven adult children: his four daughters and her three sons… a real Brady Brunch!

Tom officially starts in his role Tuesday, September 5th. Come down to City Hall to say hello!
