Talent’s Utility Billing Clerk maintains our utility billing system. This includes performing a variety of bookkeeping and accounting tasks, working directly with customers, and coordinating with our Public Works Department for new services, disconnects, reconnects, and other water-utility-related needs. After a fire last year destroyed over a third of our homes and COVID-19 continues to impact people’s incomes – helping our customers understand and pay their water bill is more important than ever.

Compensation: Full-time, salaried, $3,345-$4,269 per month + medical/dental/vision + retirement
Main Job Functions
- Help community members sign up for water accounts and pay their water bills;
- Perform the billing, collecting, adjusting, and reconciling of utility accounts;
- Coordinate with Public Works to establish new services, disconnect services, and reconnect services;
- Prepare and interpret utility reports;
- Provide accounts payable and accounts receivable support; and
- Provide support to other team members.
We are looking for a strong communicator who is comfortable learning, understanding, and explaining public sector process to the general public, who is comfortable handling interruptions throughout the day, and who has a team-player mindset.
Education: possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of twelve (12) months of increasingly responsible experience in an office setting, preferably with exposure to customer service, billing, and accounting.
*Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job proficiently may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.
Desirable Qualifications: Two (2) years’ experience in a utility or finance department. Bi-lingual in Spanish.
