The purpose of the Storm Drain Art Project is to draw attention to and create awareness about the connection between our drains and Bear Creek. The water that enters storm drains comes from roads, driveways, rooftops, parking lots and other non-permeable surfaces. This untreated water then drains directly into Bear Creek. Protecting our water resources is critical to our ecosystems, our community, and downstream communities.
The City of Talent, the Talent Public Arts Commission (TPAC), and Rogue Valley Sewer Services (RVSS) are excited to initiate the inaugural Storm Drain Art Project. The goal of this project is for local artists to create awareness around storm drains as a direct connection to our local waterways and the importance of protecting our waterways, stream habitat, and aquatic wildlife. Artists of all ages are invited to submit proposals for the 2019 Storm Drain Art Project. The theme is “Bear Creek Starts Here”.
Artists who are selected will receive a stipend of $400 upon completion of the project. Selected artists will be required to install their proposed artwork on August 10 and 11, 2019.
Deadline to apply is July 9, 2019 at 4:00pm PST.
Artists of all ages are encouraged to apply. Selection will occur by July 15, 2019.
Application packet is available at Talent City Hall and cityoftalent.org
